R Singh Professional Corporation is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) firm providing accounting, bookkeeping, and tax services to our clients in Calgary. We are looking for an experienced and organized Accounting Firm Manager to lead our accounting team and oversee the daily operations of our firm.
What You'll Do
- Plan, organize, direct and control the daily operations of the accounting firm
- Develop and implement office policies, procedures and quality standards for accounting, bookkeeping, payroll and tax services
- Plan and manage client engagements, set deadlines and assign work to accounting staff
- Review financial statements, tax returns, payroll and other client work prepared by staff before it is released to clients or filed with the Canada Revenue Agency
- Advise clients on accounting, tax and business matters and resolve complex client issues
- Prepare and manage budgets for the firm, including staffing, equipment, software and supplies
- Hire, train and supervise accounting and administrative staff, and conduct performance evaluations
- Ensure the firm complies with professional standards, CRA requirements and privacy legislation
- Help staff resolve technical accounting and software problems
What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, commerce or business administration
- 3-4 years of experience in accounting, including 1- 2 years supervising accounting staff
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and personal and corporate tax
- Advanced knowledge of accounting and tax software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, CaseWare, TaxPrep)
- Strong leadership, organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English
- Experience managing a small or mid-sized CPA firm is an asset
